Kentucky football head coach Mark Stoops was left speechless after redshirt freshman quarterback Cutter Boley delivered a jaw-dropping play against Tennessee Tech. During the game, Boley took off on a 30-yard
rushing touchdown, lowering his shoulder into a Tennessee Tech defender, while multiple defenders tried to tackle him as he found his way to the end zone.
“I was a little bit dumbfounded, and I said, ‘Did he score?’ I mean, then he scored, so you know what? That’s fun. You know, it’s fun,” Stoops said. “You do not wanna see that, we were just talking about that, we gotta teach him how to protect himself a little bit, but some of that is gonna kind of fire up your team, and for him to lower his shoulder and get in the end zone just shows another element to his game and what he’s willing to do for his team.”
The play highlighted Boley’s toughness and versatility, showing he isn’t just a passing threat for the Wildcats. The QB’s willingness to take contact while maintaining control of the ball energized the Kentucky sideline and helped extend their momentum against Tennessee Tech.
Stoops emphasized the need to teach Boley proper technique to avoid injury, but there’s no denying the impact the play had on both the scoreboard and the team’s energy. Boley’s physicality and the run demonstrated why he’s quickly becoming a key contributor for Kentucky this season.
Kentucky would go on to dominate Tennessee Tech, with Boley’s 30-yard touchdown serving as a signature highlight of the game.
