Washington added the first member of their 2026 recruiting class today when three-star SF Lattimore Ford committed to the Huskies. The commitment was first reported by Kevin Cacabelos of SeaTown Sports.
Ford played his high school ball at Mount Si in Sammamish, WA and was an early offer for the Huskies. That offer was re-affirmed by Coach
Sprinkle once he arrived in the head coach seat back in 2024. Ford ended up with offers from several power conference schools including Oklahoma and Utah having helped to lead Mount SI to a state 4A title as a sophomore.
Things went backwards for Ford though as he tore his ACL near the end of his junior season and faced the prospect of potentially never getting to play high school basketball again. At the time, Ford was averaging 18.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game on 33% three-point shooting.
Ford transferred out-of-state to Combine Academy in Charlotte, NC for his senior year to train and rehab but only lasted a month before returning to Mount Si. He was initially denied the opportunity to play despite coming back early from the ACL tear because he had transferred out then back in but eventually became eligible in late January and played in 13 games on the way to a 4th place finish in the 4A state tournament. Ford averaged 13.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game on 36% three-point shooting as he had to try to integrate into a team built around Boise State signee Brady Hennig.
Washington had seemingly punted on a freshman class with the expectation that they would have a lot of returners off this year’s squad and only would need to supplement a few spots through the portal. Then of course the season happened and injuries and poor performance plagued the team leading to seven players either declaring for the draft or entering the portal opening up a slew of roster spots after the high school ranks had largely been picked over.
Ford though is the type of prospect that Washington should be willing to take a chance on, especially given the roster situation. He was already a prospect garnering serious interest from the Huskies before the knee injury derailed his recruitment and the fact that he was able to return at the end of the season shows that he is close to a full recovery even if he still wasn’t quite 100%. The long-term status of Jasir Rencher is in question as he tries to return from a heart condition and Rencher is the closest young player on the team to Ford’s size/skill profile. The hope is both are able to return to full health as you can never have enough 6’6 athletic wings. Ford will also get to learn from LeJuan Watts who is also a similar size and also can play a point forward role at times.
Welcome to Washington, Latt!
