Despite Notre Dame losing on Sunday night to the Miami Hurricanes, the Irish only fell three spots from #6 to #9 in both the AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll.

After you throw all of out hurt feelings in the trash, the fact remains that Notre Dame lost by three points on the road to the #10 team in the country. Most pollsters aren’t going to bury a team like message board posters so often do, and so the Irish got a nice little adjustment.
The fact remains, however, that the upcoming game against the Texas
A&M Aggies is now incredibly important for the Irish and their postseason goals. The Aggies are the lone Irish opponent left which is ranked in the top 25 after the Boise State Broncos dropped out. Navy, Pitt, and USC could all be ranked by the time the irish play them — but all of that is for a future concern.
