Bayern Munich’s trip to South Korea has clearly left an impression on Vincent Kompany — and not just because of the football.
After Bayern’s 2-1 preseason victory over Jeju SK, the head coach praised Jeju Island, highlighting everything from its scenery and cuisine to the local football culture.
“I loved it when I was there on Sunday and watched the K-League match. Just like I love the cafes or the beach. The food was absolutely fantastic too. It’s great on this island, I really like it. I enjoyed
watching the game; it’s also a part of football culture, of course. And it was great to see how many people came to the stadium,” Kompany told FCBayern.com.
Kompany attended a K League match before Bayern’s friendly and came away impressed by the passion of the supporters and the atmosphere. His comments echoed those of several members of Bayern Munich’s organization, who have spoken about the warm welcome they’ve received from fans in South Korea.
