The Chargers announced on Thursday they’re signing wide receiver Monte’ Morrow to the roster and waiving long snapper Peter Bowden.
Morrow comes to the Bolts from Division II Upper Iowa University, home of the Peacocks. The 6’4, 210-pounder pass catcher is coming off a prolific season where he caught 55 passes 1,007 yards, becoming just the third player in school history to surpass the 1,000-yard threshold. He was named a First-Team All-GLVC and a Division II Honorable Mention All-American.
Morrow participated in Iowa State’s Pro Day earlier this offseason to show off for scouts. He jumped 35 inches in the vertical and 9’10” in the broad jump. His 40 time was reportedly timed at 4.48. However, it looks like Morrow is much more of a straight-line athlete as his agility numbers were underwhelming with a 4.62 short shuttle and a 7.64 three-cone time.
Similar to Dalevon Campbell last offseason, it looks like the Chargers are throwing a dart at an intriguing small school prospect to see if they can come up with a hidden gem.
