Reports out of Saturday’s TNA Impact Wrestling taping in Edmonton, Alberta said that WWE NXT’s Ridge Holland was injured during his match with Moose. It was bad enough that the match had to be stopped, then Moose had to help Holland to the back.
Holland’s confirming the reports today (Mon., Sept. 29), along with news that it’s an injury to the Lisfranc joint in his foot. The Lisfranc joint is actually multiple joints between bones in the arch of the foot, and it’s difficult and painful to walk or run
when they’re damaged. The 37-year-old former pro rugby player says he’ll have an operation to repair his Lisfranc. He also indicates he’ll return, something that would be months away.
In storyline, Holland recently allied himself with fellow NXT roster member and current TNA World champ Trick Williams. He seemed likely to play a role in the invasion angle, and upcoming Invasion special, between TNA and NXT. But any plans will now have to change.
It’s the latest tough beat in Holland’s pro wrestling career. He’s had several injuries since starting on the British independent scene in the mid-2010s, and was a target of fan hate after Big E suffered a broken neck taking a suplex from Holland in 2022 — something that became’s been part of his on-screen character on and off since it happened.
Now he faces rehab from this injury. But Ridge doesn’t seem too daunted, so we’ll wish him luck, and figure we’ll see him “in abit”.
