Michael Penix Jr. led the Falcons offense to a solid day on Sunday against the previously undefeated 49ers, completing 25 of 34 passes, a 73.5% completion rate, for 213 yards, three touchdowns, and no turnovers. His efforts did not go unnoticed, and Penix has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance.
It’s Penix’s first time receiving the NFC Offensive Player of the Week Award.
From the Falcons:
… Penix is only the third quarterback in the league in the last 25 seasons to have
at least three passing touchdowns with zero interceptions in a victory over a 6-0 or better team. Penix has completed at least 72% of his passes in Atlanta’s three wins this season. His 21 touchdown passes rank 10th in franchise history.
Penix joins teammates Bijan Robinson (honored three times since 2025) and Kyle Pitts (Week 15, 2025), and former teammate Zane Gonzales (NFC Special Teams Player of the Week, Weeks 12 and 18, 2025), as NFC Players of the Week.
Penix will speak to the media on Wednesday afternoon, and we will update this post once he comments on the honor.
Congratulations to Penix on the well-deserved recognition, and here’s hoping we see that level of play for the rest of the season.
