After many months of patience, NFL fans got their wish as the season kicked off on Thursday night — bringing back professional football every week from now to February.
Week one’s Thursday Night Football included a clash between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles, featuring an ejection before a snap was taken place, multiples injuries and nearly an hour-long a weather delay.
While Dallas put on a valiant effort to upset the Eagles, they fell just short, 24-20.
As the season gets underway,
there are 17 former Wildcats on NFL rosters.
Representing the Buffalo Bills are Deone Walker, Maxwell Hairston and Ray Davis.
Trevin Wallace is playing for the Carolina Panthers, Josh-Hines Allen is still with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Josh Pascal is playing for the Detroit Lions and Bud Dupree is now with the LA Chargers.
Carrington Valentine and Darian Kinnard are playing for the Green Bay Packers while Dru Phillips and Wan’Dale Robinson are representing the New York Giants.
Landon Young and Luke Fortner are with the Saints, Lonnie Johnson is with the Las Vegas Raiders, Will Levis is still with the Tennessee Titans, Brandin Echols is with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Chris Rodriguez is with the Washington Commanders.
Practice squad players include Brenden Bates (Cleveland Browns), Eli Cox (Houston Texans), Jamon Dumas-Johnson (Green Bay Packers), Keidron Smith (Denver Broncos), Mike Edwards (Kansas City Chiefs), Quinton Bohanna (Seattle Seahawks) and Zion Childress (Dallas Cowboys).
The NFL season continues tonight when the Chiefs and Chargers meat in Brazil for their first of two divisional matchups this season. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 PM ET on YouTube.
