Chicago Bears Pro Bowl cornerback Jaylon Johnson hopes to play his team’s season opener next Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings, this after dealing with a groin injury.
Bears name 5 captains for 2025 season – 670
The Chicago Bears have named five captains for the 2025 regular season, and will feature one rotating weekly captain, head coach Ben Johnson announced Tuesday.
Braxton Jones named Bears’ starter at left tackle – 670
The Chicago Bears have named Braxton Jones, their three-year starter at left tackle, back to that top position, this following an offseason evaluation at that position.
Johnson has scored 30 or more points against Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores every time he has called plays against him.
Johnson, who missed all of training camp with a groin injury and still wasn’t 100% as he spoke to reporters Tuesday, also addressed whether his absence had something to do with dissatisfaction about his contract.
Bears coach Ben Johnson chose Jones over Kiran Amegadjie, Theo Benedet and Ozzy Trapilo to start against the Vikings on Monday.
It’s a smaller circle of leadership than last season, when Matt Eberflus had eight captains.
