Joe Burrow has started slowly in nearly every season of his career. He hasn’t been prolific through two games this season, but he’s been successful.
In addition, he’s joined some elite company alongside his running mate, Ja’Marr Chase.
For only the second time in his career, Burrow has thrown for 200+ yards in each of his first two games of the season. Sunday in Houston, Burrow threw for 207 yards and two touchdowns on 20/31 passing with no interceptions.

50 touchdown connections for their career. According to NFL researcher Arye Pulli, only four QB-WR duos in NFL history have hit that mark before reaching the age of 30, and the Burrow-Chase duo just joined the club.
Chase finished the game with seven catches for 75 yards and those two scores.
Again, Burrow hasn’t been prolific yet. But he’s been productive and successful.
On Sunday, Burrow also showed his toughness as he dealt with back tightness during the week leading up to Sunday. Not ideal going up against the Texans’ defense. But Burrow wasn’t mincing words or backing down earlier this week when he said he was good to go.
On Sunday in Houston, Burrow went out and withstood five sacks, delivering a performance that helped the Bengals to a massive road win.
We’ve seen Burrow deliver performances like this while banged up and taking several hits in a game. Houston’s defense is ferocious, and they sacked Burrow five times on Sunday. Yet Burrow extended plays, including the second touchdown to Chase and a 16-yard third-down pass to Samaje Perine.
Despite back tightness and Houston’s defense, Burrow overcame it all, and the Bengals are now 2-0. Just wait till he starts posting prolific numbers.
