Gotta love these late summer games in the minor leagues. Games being postponed, games being suspended, all thanks to Mother Nature and her rain deposits. At least a few teams played yesterday. Here is how they did.
Lehigh Valley/Scranton suspended, 1 inning
Man, the IronPigs got to play one inning before the game was suspended due to weather. Bummer.
Reading/Chesapeake, postponed
Another postponement due to rain? Did anyone in the minor league system for the Phillies play yesterday?
Jersey Shore 1, Brooklyn

Ah, alright, here we go. An actual minor league game played in the Phillies farm system. The BlueClaws have been scorned this year for not having enough talent on the roster, which has led to a pretty horrendous 42-69 record. We know that player development is the ultimate goal of the farm system, but that record is…..yikes. Notching another win on the ledger is nice considering that they are doing so with better players, promoted from Clearwater as the draftees backfill that roster behind them. On this day, the pitching was the story as four arms, led by starter Cade Obermueller, allowed only a single hit on the day. Scott Mudler was the offense for Jersey Shore, going 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored, knocked in in the eighth inning on an infield single by Romeli Espinosa.
Ft. Myers 9, Clearwater 4
Will Gasparino was an interesting draft pick by the Phillies. An accomplished outfielder out of UCLA, he could be something of a fast mover in the system due to his advanced game thanks to being in college. Yesterday, he went 2 for 4 with a triple and three runs scored, but the Threshers had some shoddy pitching to lose the game to Ft. Myers. Zuher Yousuf allowed six runs in 3 1/3 innings to lose the game. Reece Moroney went 3 for 4 with a run scored in the losing effort.
