I know what you’re thinking. “How can I be positive when the season is over? I have to watch two other teams play in the World Series when it should be us instead.” And yes, I’ve been feeling the same way over the last week. However hard it has been, though, I am extremely proud of what this team accomplished this year and super happy to have been a part of it.
Hard Fought Final Game
While the Tampa Bay Rays took an early lead in Monday’s game six, the Guardians did all they could to fight back. Nathaniel Lowe got the scoring
started in the sixth inning with an RBI single. While Junior Caminero extended the Rays’ lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Guardians did all they could to come back in the eighth. While pitcher Tyler Wells loaded the bases, he was replaced by Ian Seymour who walked in a run and hit Angel Martínez to make it 5-3. That was where the magic ended, however, as Yandy Díaz tacked on two more with a home run in the bottom of the inning. While the Guardians’ season came to an end, this was the farthest they’ve made it in the past decade.
Bibee Wins Fielding Bible Award
For the second time in his career, Tanner Bibee has won the Fielding Bibe Award. This is awarded to one player at each position for being the best defender. Bibee previously won this award in 2024 and remains the only Guardians pitcher to have won it. With 11 putouts, 18 assists, and a .906 fielding percentage, this was the second-best defensive year of Bibee’s career. As you can imagine, it is second to his 2024 Fielding Bible Award-winning season.
Vogt Confirms Return in 2027
As the season came to a close on Monday, rumors immediately started flowing. Chief among those were rumors of manager Stephen Vogt leaving the team. With the announcement of the departure of Seattle Mariners manager Dan Wilson, many thought that Vogt would want to try for the job. His family lives in Washington, and he served as the Mariners’ bullpen coach in 2023 after retiring as a player. However, he made it clear that he will be back in Cleveland in 2027. “I’ll be in Cleveland,” he said. “I’m here. I’m coming back.”
