Indiana is set to take on Kennesaw State this Saturday at home in Bloomington. Kennesaw State head coach Jerry Mack addressed the media this week ahead of the matchup and had a handful of things to saw about the Hoosiers.
Indiana will serve as the Owls’ second power conference opponent this season following their season opening 10-9 defeat at Wake Forest last Saturday. Mack said his team is looking forward to another shot to prove itself
“These guys [The Owls] are hungry,” Mack said. “These guys play
with a chip on their shoulder, they understand how important an opportunity like this is to play a team that went to the College Football Playoff last year and have a chance to really match their game up against some of the best in the country.”
Mack said that while he’s never had a chance to meet Indiana’s Curt Cignetti, he’s followed his career from afar. On this year’s Hoosiers, Mack complimented quarterback Fernando Mendoza, Indiana’s group of wide receivers and the running back trio’s ability to break tackles.
“They have a chance to beat you running the ball, they can beat you through the air, so you’ve really gotta be oiled up in your techniques, all your coverages and your schemes,” Mack said.
Additionally, Mack was asked about Old Dominion’s performance against Indiana and praised the Monarch’s gameplan, and quarterback Colten Joseph’s running ability. He noted that the Owls have different strengths and weaknesses, but that they’ll be taking some of what proved successful for Old Dominion into account.
