It’s been a difficult few days for fans of the Atlanta Falcons, as the team dealt with back-to-back devastating injury news on Wednesday. Starting right tackle Kaleb McGary was carted off the practice field, and just hours later, it was announced that swing tackle Storm Norton underwent ankle surgery that would keep him out 6-8 weeks.
There’s a lot to unpack there, and we’re still awaiting clarity on McGary’s injury. But we’re also approaching Week 1, where the Falcons are set to face the defending
NFC South champion Buccaneers. Atlanta is obviously looking to dethrone Tampa Bay—and were tantalizingly close last season despite sweeping the Bucs. It’s been a long postseason drought for the Falcons, but what are their chances this year?
Atlanta currently remains a slight underdog to make the playoffs in the 2025 NFL season, with FanDuel Sportsbook listing the odds at +132. That’s the 18th-best odds in the NFL and 10th-best odds in the NFC. The Falcons are behind the usual suspects (Eagles, 49ers, Lions, Bucs, Commanders), but are also behind teams with significant questions of their own (Rams, Packers, Vikings, Cardinals?!).
We’ll see if these odds adjust at all depending on the outcome of the McGary injury, which we’ll hope to hear about soon. If you’re interested in placing a wager on Atlanta’s playoff chances or other futures, FanDuel Sportsbook is conducting FanDuel Futures Day on Tuesday, August 26 where you can get profit boost tokens around various futures markets throughout the day.
The markets will be split up throughout the day, but they will include odds to win the Super Bowl and hypothetical Super Bowl matchups, odds to make or miss the playoffs, win totals, division winners, and player milestones. So if you’re interested, head over to FanDuel Sportsbook on Tuesday to take advantage of FanDuel Futures Day.
What are your thoughts on the Falcons’ playoff chances in 2025? Are you significantly lowering your expectations if Kaleb McGary is slated to miss significant time?
