As Fabio Wardley heads into his upcoming heavyweight title defense against Daniel Dubois, he tells Sky Sports that there’s no mystery in what he’ll be coming to do on fight night. Wardley says from the opening bell he intends to come bearing down on Dubois and fully intends on getting to a proper slugfest from the outset.
“We have all the intention as a team of getting straight in there and getting straight stuck in, getting into his face and making it a fight, making it a firefight,” Wardley told
Sky Sports News. “Just letting the guns go and seeing what lands. Because there’s no need to be hanging around. There’s no need to box and move and jab in this scenario.”
Neither Wardley nor Dubois are really known as fighters with a lot of finesse, so it’s not all that surprising that Wardley is more intent on rumbling. But in a fight where both men will be right in front of the other and packing fight-ending power, it’s really only a matter of time before one of the two get clipped.
That, by general consensus, is the biggest intrigue in this matchup. Both Wardley and Dubois have demonstrated their power, and now it’ll be their skills and will on display on May 9 in Manchester. Wardley, for his part, won’t be wasting any time.
