The Tar Heels are back in action this afternoon when they take on Pitt at Acrisure Stadium. After what was a weirdly promising finish against Notre Dame, UNC hopes to perhaps earn a ACC road win against a Panthers team that will be missing their starting quarterback, Mason Heintschel. While that sounds like it would be an advantage for the Heels, they have a bad history with backup quarterbacks, so we’ll see if they can break the curse this afternoon.
What is completely in their control is whether
or not the offense can continue what they did against the Irish. While the run game was a bit of a struggle, Billy Edwards Jr. was able to move the ball through the air, which was an improvement from what happened against Clemson. The hope is that the defense is ready to play today as well and that the quarterback change didn’t put a wrench in their plans. They’ve had time to prepare for this, to be very clear, but having time to plan for it hasn’t meant much in the past. I realize how irrational it is to keep harping on stuff that happened with a completely different staff, but also the Heels did face a backup quarterback in Death Valley. I’m just saying.
Anyways, feel free to hang out with us in the chat during the game. As always, we’ll be back afterwards with post-game analysis and takes. Until then, Go Heels!
