The Wisconsin Badgers were blown out 37-0 this weekend against the Iowa Hawkeyes, despite being just 3.5-point underdogs in a humiliating evening at Camp Randall Stadium.
Things don’t get much easier this
weekend as they face the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes, and the opening odds are telling.
Wisconsin opened as a 27.5-point underdog against Ohio State, which is coincidentally the same amount that the Buckeyes opened as favorites against the Ohio Bobcats earlier this season. Ohio proceeded to lose 37-9 in that game and currently stands at 3-3 with losses to Rutgers, Ohio State, and Ball State.
Things have quickly spiraled for the Badgers, who have lost four straight games, including eight straight in the Big Ten, with each of the losses this year coming via blowout.
The odds have slightly shifted in Wisconsin’s favor, as they’re now 25.5-point underdogs, but that’s still quite the line for a Power 4 game. Ohio State has looked phenomenal this year and is only getting better, most recently blowing out the Minnesota Golden Gophers 42-3.
The over/under is at 41.5 points, which is a fairly low total for such a spread. Wisconsin’s over/under in the game is 7.5 points, with the under being heavily favored.
Wisconsin’s quarterback situation remains a question with Billy Edwards likely out another week, and the locker room seems to be spiraling, with head coach Luke Fickell’s job security becoming increasingly tenuous by the day.
We’ll see if the Badgers can put up a fight this weekend, but things aren’t looking good in Madison at the moment.
