What is the story about?
They’re gonna put me in the Dots
They’re gonna make a big star out of me
We’ll make the film about a man that’s sad and lonely
And all I got to do is act naturally
- Husky Basketball success has relied heavily on the women’s side all season. This weekend, both teams were able to post a victory, but the one by the women means a bit more. The #25 Dawgs hosted Oregon on Sunday evening. The Ducks came into the game at 18-8 and pushing UW in the middle of the Big 10 conference standings. The Huskies overcame 21 turnovers and a grueling stretch for most of the second and third quarters where nothing worked offensively. Sayvia Sellers led the Dawgs with 17 points, Brynn McGaughy had some impeccably timed baskets in the fourth, and UW held on 51-43.
- On the men’s side, the Huskies hosted Minnesota and played the game I would have expected from the previous match-up against Penn St. Minnesota struggled with interior defense and Hannes Steinbach took over. The UW guards also slashed into the paint to help create offense. Despite typically troublesome shooting, Washington pulled away to win 69-57 and improve to 5-10 in conference play.
- For On Montlake, Christian Caple does a deep dive on all things related to UW and the NFL Draft Combine. The Huskies will send five players to the Combine this year, which places them right in the middle of the Big 10. Jonah Coleman, Carver Willis, Denzel Boston, Ephesians Prysock, and Tacario Davis will all try to improve their draft stock by showing off their measurables.
- Washington Track has already wrapped up its indoor season with the Husky Classic over the weekend. Chloe Foerster was the headliner of the meet with a 1:59.91 800-meters time. It gives her the School Record and places her int he top 10 all-time in NCAA history for indoor times.
- Husky Softball opened with an extremely difficult slate of games in weekend #1 and put up some very respectable results. In weekend #2, the Huskies had a chance to pad their W-L record and did just that with five wins from five over Fresno State, San Jose State, and Santa Clara. They finished the weekend with a 13-0 victory over Santa Clara in six innings, giving the team a needed break after playing in San Jose earlier int he same day.
