Coming off their bye week, the Wisconsin Badgers are back in action against the No. 23 Washington Huskies, looking to snap an ongoing six-game losing streak.
It’s been a rough season for the Badgers, who
had two uninspiring non-conference victories before proceeding to lose their next six games by 14 points or more. Five of those losses have been in conference play, where the Badgers have now dropped 10 straight dating back to last season.
The most recent one was two weeks ago, when the Badgers lost 21-7 to the No. 6 Oregon Ducks, fighting hard but coming short nonetheless due to their struggling offense.
Despite the rough season, the Badgers are remaining steadfast in their support of head coach Luke Fickell, as Athletic Director Chris McIntosh made another public statement this week, this time announcing that Fickell would return in 2026.
Even with the news, Wisconsin is hoping to finish out the season strong and still find a way to at least one victory over the final month, starting with their matchup against Washington, which will be the Badgers’ fifth ranked opponent of the season.
The Huskies have started the year 6-2 with losses to No. 1 Ohio State and Michigan. They do have a marquee win, beating the then-No. 23 ranked Illinois Fighting Illini 42-25 two weeks ago. Like the Badgers, Washington is coming off its bye week, so there’ll be no rest advantage on either side.
Wisconsin has been banged up for much of the season, and that’ll continue on Saturday as head coach Luke Fickell announced that multiple starters have been ruled out for the year. Still, the Badgers showed some promising fight against Oregon, and they’ll look to continue that with a quarterback change likely against Washington.
