With the World Cup rapidly approaching, Germany’s recent tune-up matches have given fans plenty to discuss. Some supporters are feeling encouraged by what they have seen, while others still have lingering concerns about whether this squad can truly compete for the biggest prize in international football.
On the positive side, Germany continues to show flashes of the attacking talent that has many people excited. At times, the team has looked capable of creating chances against a variety of styles,
and there is no shortage of talent throughout the squad. There are also reasons to believe that the team is developing a stronger identity.
At the same time, the tune-up matches have not erased every concern. Defensive lapses, occasional struggles with finishing, and moments where the team loses control of matches remain issues that fans have seen before. Germany has often looked dominant for stretches only to leave opponents hanging around longer than necessary.
That leaves supporters with an interesting question. Are these recent performances signs of a team peaking at the right time, or are they simply masking problems that could resurface against elite competition?
The good news is that Germany appears to have both the talent and depth to challenge any nation in the tournament. Whether that translates into a deep run may depend on whether they can consistently put together complete performances for seven matches.
So what do you think? After watching the World Cup tune-ups, do you have more faith in Germany’s chances—or more doubt?
