With news that Jake Waters will be joining Penn State as quarterbacks coach, and that Noah Pauley will be coming on board as wide receivers coach , Matt Campbell is quickly filling out his coaching staff.
His front office is also coming into form quickly, and it appears that he’ll have his organization set up soon, which is good, because he needs to have the ability on reestablishing Penn State’s player connections.
So as we close in on the end of the hiring spree, MWM simply asks – is there anyone else out there that you’d like to see join Penn State’s staff? If so, in what role?
I’d like to see Deion Barnes be retained on the staff, as I think he’s a good coach and a great Philadelphia recruiter. Dan Connor is another coach that I think would be beneficial to the team. Anthony Poindexter would be a third, though with Deon Broomfield now on staff, Poindexter may head elsewhere.
What about some surprise hires? With Jim Knowles off to Tennessee, Jon Heacock is now in Happy Valley to lead the defense. But Heacock is 65, and has yet to officially be announced as the defensive coordinator. Could Campbell go hunting for a DC, and keep Heacock on as a senior analyst? If so, what DCs are out there that would move the needle for the Lions?
In short, is there anyone out there, at any coaching position, that you’d like to see join the Blue and White?
