Late last week, there appeared to be some optimism that the Baltimore Ravens quarterback would suit up against the Cincinnati Bengals. Jackson hasn’t played since October 4th, and as he eased back into practice before Week 7, the Ravens changed his “week-to-week” status to “day-to-day.”
Jackson spoke to the media on Friday, and while he said the injury was still painful, he did not rule out taking the field while the internet speculated on his status. The speculation didn’t last too long, as the Ravens
would rule Jackson out for the game on Saturday afternoon.
During Sunday’s game, the CBS broadcast crew mentioned that Baltimore was surprised that Jackson didn’t play, so Jackson may have informed the staff on Saturday that he wouldn’t be able to play, leading to even more speculation about the disconnect between Jackson and the team.
When asked if he was surprised, first-year head coach Jesse Minter said it was a mischaracterization.
Minter was pretty quiet on the subject after saying that “shocked” wasn’t the right word.
In the end, Tyler Huntley got the start, and the Bengals left with a 35-13 victory, but it sounds like there may be more questions than answers in Baltimore when it comes to their starting player.
The Bengals and Ravens will meet again on Thursday Night Football in Cincinnati on New Year’s Eve.
