The first official transfer of the summer of 2026 is one that we’ve expected to see take place for weeks, if not months now. The sudden change in management didn’t change it — especially with there already being some familiarity between the player and Juventus’ new CEO.
Juventus began the work week with not only welcoming Giovanni Carnevali to Continassa, but also announcing that they have picked up the very affordable option to buy on winger Jérémie Boga after his six-month loan spell from Ligue
1 side Nice. Juventus will pay all of €4.8 million to Nice to make Boga’s transfer to Turin a permanent one, with the 29-year-old signing a contract through 2029. None of this was unexpected — especially with how Boga played for much of his loan spell during the second half of the 2025-26 season.
He officially becomes the first transfer completed during the Carnevali era at Juventus, although pretty much all the decisions on that move were made by the Damien Comolli-led front office and given the green light by manager Luciano Spalletti.
Here are the official details, courtesy of the Juventus press office:
Turin, 15 June 2026 – Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces the option right execution for the definitive
acquisition of the registration rights of the player Jérémie Boga, from OGC Nice, for a consideration of €4.8 million, payable in two financial years, with the addition of ancillary costs up to €0.8 million.Juventus and the player have signed a contract of employment until 30 June 2029.
Boga arrived at Juventus in January after having not played for nearly two months following a terrible incident involving Nice players and club ultras on the team bus. But a return to Serie A — a league he knew quite well thanks to his time at Sassuolo and Atalanta — was what he needed to get things back on track. He also proved to be one of the few transfers that Comolli brought in that actually worked out quite well, with Boga’s option to buy looking like quite a steal — especially for a club like Juventus who will be under some pretty strict financial limitations this summer with no Champions League football on the schedule next season.
In 17 games in all competitions for Juventus last season, Boga scored four goals and provided the Bianconeri with some much-needed cover for Kenan Yildiz as his minutes total became one of the highest on the team. Boga also featured as a false nine at times under Spalletti, although it was very much a makeshift sort of option during Dusan Vlahovic’s lengthy injury spell and Jonathan David’s extended struggles through much of the 2026 calendar year.
