On the latest episode of What Happened When, AEW commentator Tony Schiavone gave an update on Steven Borden’s status. Borden’s match at All Out (Sept. 26) was stopped early by the referee after he was knocked out on a bad landing of a high risk coast-to-coast mid-air collision with Kevin Knight.
Schiavone spoke with Borden, who was upset about the way his injury affected the PPV. Based on their conversation, Schiavone concluded that the rookie will be just fine.
“I talked to Steven just yesterday on
the phone, and he was fine. He had no headaches. He had no dizziness. As far as a diagnosis is concerned, that has to come from our doctor…but I can tell you by talking to him, he said, ‘I’m fine.’ He did tell me of all the years that [he] played football for the University of Kentucky, he said [he] never had a concussion. [He] never experienced anything like that.
And he was more upset that he thought that he ruined the pay-per-view by what happened. And I said no you didn’t. I said, because we announced it, and then we announced it again to the crowd. So everybody was very happy that you were okay, and so that really lifted everybody’s spirits.
How long is he gonna be out? I don’t know. I’m sure [they will] have to check on him before he can get back in there. It was very scary.”
Tony went on to guarantee that Sting’s sons will have great pro wrestling careers.
“There you go. He’s going to be fine. He and his brother Garrett have a great career ahead of them. Guaranteed.”
