Amidst the recent roster turmoil, TNA locked down one of their veterans who has aspirations to be world champion. He also happens to be TNA’s only remaining Rascal. That man is Trey Miguel.
Miguel broke the news on the Battleground Podcast. He laughed about sharing the decision with his father. Miguel texted the word
re-sign without the hyphen, so his father thought he resigned. The reason for Miguel sticking with TNA is to see the journey through. He was there for the tough times and now into the new era on national television. Trey is happy to see that hard work pay off.
Miguel briefly left TNA earlier this year to sign with AEW, however, plans quickly changed. The idea was to join his Rascalz brothers Dezmond Xavier, Zachary Wentz, and Myron Reed as the full foursome. Controversial comments from Trey on social media resurfaced, and the rumor is that Warner Bros. Discovery put pressure on AEW to release Miguel. He never wrestled a match in AEW. Trey immediately returned to TNA, and it wasn’t long before he won the TNA International Championship.
Miguel is currently out with a broken patella. He injured his knee in April at Rebellion, and the diagnosis for recovery is three months. Prior to that break, Trey was focused on developing a better look. He hit the gym and grew from 144 pounds to 181 pounds. His goal was 184 pounds. In a chat with Santino Marella, Santino asked why not 200 pounds. Why not shoot higher and go for the world title? Winning the TNA World Championship is now one of Miguel’s current motivations. When Miguel returns from injury, he wants to be his best version yet. Miguel wants to come back stronger to elevate TNA.
On the topic of recent changes in TNA, Miguel voiced his thanks for Tommy Dreamer and Sami Callihan upon their departures.
