What is the story about?

Florida State opened Saturday’s game as a 45.5-point favorite to beat FCS opponent Central Arkansas, and while the Seminoles didn’t live up to expectations in that regard, they managed to coast to a comfortable 34-7 victory over the Bears at Doak Campbell Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Ashton Daniels was 12-of-18 for 224 yards, two passing touchdowns and one interception, as well as 34 rushing yards. Duce Robinson added another touchdown catch to put him at two on the year. The Bears dominated the time

of possession this game, with 39:12 used, compared to Florida State’s 20:48, but ultimately it was meaningless for UCA, which ran clock but couldn’t come up with many points.

FSU began the game with four straight scoring drives. The first one got off on the right foot with a great squib kick return, followed by Robinson’s 29-yard touchdown reception to go up 7-0 44 seconds in. Ousmane Kromah had a day, rushing for two first-half touchdowns and 86 yards. Gabe Panikowski also kicked a field goal to go up 17-0.

Eventually, FSU would build a 24-7 lead going into halftime, allowing the Bears’ lone touchdown near the middle of the second quarter on a 13-play drive. Near the very end of the half, Daniels spotted the Bears an interception as the Seminoles were seeking an exclamation point to a stellar first half.

Central Arkansas began the second half on offense, but punted three straight times. After Daniels found Jayvan Boggs (career-high 112 yards) for a 34-yard touchdown connection on the Seminoles’ first second-half drive, another Panikowski field goal made it 34-7.

At the beginning of the fourth, the backups started to come in. Kevin Sperry got the call in relief at quarterback, going 2-of-2 for 14 yards. Notably, Malachi Marshall did not make his debut in the comfortable win.

Central Arkansas ran off the majority of the final nine minutes of the game with a 20-play drive that came up empty when the Seminoles forced a turnover on downs after the Bears got to the FSU 23. FSU would kneel it down the rest of the way, and snap its two-game losing streak.

The Seminoles begin a stretch of seven straight ACC games next Saturday against Virginia.
