Though he was ousted years ago, there are times it still feels very much like we are watching a Vince McMahon run WWE. Pretty much anything they do with JD McDonagh feels like Vince’s particular brand of madness, both in its silliness and its repetitivness.
They have been beating us over the head (pun absolutely intended) with this entire story involving Joe Hendry and the stupid funko pop.
To that end, I love what happened with all of it this week on Monday Night Raw in San Diego, mostly because McDonagh
actually rules and we haven’t gotten to see a lot of that since he’s been a lackey in The Judgment Day and the butt of everyone’s jokes.
First, he blasted that dumb funko pop head with a guitar:
It’s impossibly dumb but you can’t argue with the response it got from the live crowd. Hell, I popped too. He went hard as hell at that big ass dome.
Then, because, again, the entire idea is to beat you over the head with it, he finished the match with a headbutt:
Again, it’s dumb, but because McDonagh rules so hard he makes it look like a legitimate finishing move. Watch it again. I wouldn’t want anything to do with taking that move, even in a worked environment. That’s a credit to McDonagh.
