At 7-0 with a 38-13 win over Michigan State Saturday, Indiana has moved up to the No. 2 spot in the latest AP Poll. This is, for the second consecutive week, the highest ranking in program history.
With Miami’s Friday night loss to Louisville, Indiana likely entered Saturday’s game knowing that this would be possible, so long as they avoided the upset Saturday. Once the Hoosiers started to takeover the Homecoming game, this was virtually a guarantee.
Indiana is one of just five remaining undefeated
teams nationally. No. 1 Ohio State, No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 7 Georgia Tech, and No. 11 BYU are the other perfect teams left.
Elsewhere in the Big Ten, Illinois re-entered the top 25, coming in at No. 23 after a bye week. It’s a little odd to add them after a bye following a loss, but they deserved to be ranked last week so I won’t complain too much.
Oregon also moved up two spots on their bye week, now sitting at No. 6.
Penn State lost again, so it’s looking like Indiana will not have another ranked opponent on the schedule after wins over Illinois and Oregon.
