What is the story about?
Penn State’s defensive backfield received another boost with a commitment from former Iowa State safety Marcus Neal:
Neal had 77 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and two interceptions in the 2025 season, his first year as a full-time starter. He was named
third team All-Big 12 for his effort this season. Neal was originally a four-star recruit and the No. 33 safety prospect in the 2024 class. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
This is a massive pickup for the secondary, which has lost both starters at safety in Zakee Wheatley (graduation) and King Mack (portal). We have grown accustomed to excellent safety play at Penn State, and Neal is well on his way to maintaining that standard.
