The majority of, and possibly all, of Bayern Munich’s incoming transfer business for the summer window is already done. The German Rekordmeister brought in Nathaniel Brown from Eintracht Frankfurt on a five-year deal for €55 million and Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven on a five-year deal for roughly the same fee. The club have also given Bara Sapoko Ndiaye a five-year, €3 million contract after his loan spell from Gambinos Stars but the focus for the club’s front office right now is to try to offload
out-of-favor players in the squad to help reduce the overall wage bill, as board member for sport Max Eberl and sporting director Christoph Freund have confirmed.
Nonetheless, even honorary Bayern president Uli Hoeneß has said he’s pleased with the business the club has done this summer despite having only made two key signings. There’s an overall feeling at the club from the top down that the current squad is in a solid state coming off of the domestic double season with contract extensions for both Harry Kane and Michael Olise being worked on in the background.
For center back Jonathan Tah, he just went through the process of coming to Bayern last summer from Bayer Leverkusen, and he was able to have his move expedited to be able to take part in the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States at the time. As one of the newer players in the squad that has already fit in like a glove in his first season at the club, the towering defender has said he’s very much relishing the prospect of playing with new signings Brown and Saibari.
“I’ve gotten to know Nene a bit better through the national team. He has an incredible range of qualities. He can contribute a lot to the team both offensively and defensively,” Tah said of his new defensive compatriot (via @iMiaSanMia).
As for Saibari, the Moroccan international has been working on his injury recovery at Säbener Straße to be as ready as possible for the start of the 2026/27 season after he had to miss Morocco’s World Cup quarterfinals loss to France due to the muscular injury he sustained. He’s been away from the rest of the squad that’s currently finish up their preseason tour of Asia that followed their Tegernsee camp, but Tah is still very much excited that he’s now a Bayern player.
“As for Ismail, we’ve played against him during his time at PSV. He was also one of those players you really enjoyed watching at the World Cup. He’s an extremely complete attacking player who can be used in different positions and is always capable of producing moments of surprise. He’s a very difficult opponent to play against because he’s physically strong while also being technically excellent. So I’m really looking forward to playing with both of them,” Tah explained.
