Sean McVay has never been shy about handing out a game ball(s) after a victory. After all, a win is never to be taken for granted.
The Los Angeles Rams defeated the New York Giants 28-6 in a great team effort win. There were still flaws and some areas of execution that need to be cleaned up but overall it was a solid bounce back performance by the preseason favorites. Who helped steer the team to victory and shined under the Monday Night Football lights?
Here are MY game balls from the team’s Week 2 win…
Game Ball #1: Davante Adams
Without hesitation, Adam was the biggest performer of the night. His 8 receptions for 195 yards and 2 touchdowns paced the Rams. His 195 yards also outgained the New York Giants entire offense. Adams looked like the Green Bay Packer version of himself. Something the Rams were hoping to resurrect when they signed him last offseason. With Puka Nacua sidelined, Adams big night carried even more significance on the field and in the stat sheet.
Game Ball #2: Matthew Stafford
Stafford looked like the 2025 MVP Stafford. He threw for 327 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 1 interception. The interception in the 2nd quarter was reckless and overambitious but that is what you will get with Stafford sometimes. But all in all, Stafford was methodical, sharp, and in-sync throughout the majority of the night. Terrance Ferguson actually dropped two passes which hurt Stafford’s completion percentage.
Game Ball #3: Kobie Turner
I thought Kobie Turner was a force for the defense. I was worried about how the Rams defensive line would handle Cam Skattebo but Turner led the charge in slowing down the powerful back. There may not have been any splash plays but Turner showed up on the tape.
Game Ball #4: Sean McVay
Sure the HC is not going to get the game ball typically but McVay was pretty flawless in his play calling. The only blemishes in the game were player-inflicted. Matthew Stafford’s interception. Kyren Williams fumble. Harrison Mevis’s missed field goal. Terrance Ferguson’s two drops. McVay himself called a great game. And his team responded the way they needed to after an opening Week 1 loss.
Game Ball #5: Trent McDuffie
The Rams traded a first round pick and paid Trent McDuffie to be the highest paid cornerback in the league. Well against Malik Nabers, the star cornerback held the talented wide receiver to 1 reception for 1 yard on 4 targets. McDuffie also got his hands on his first interception as a Ram. #22 also added a key PBU on a deep ball pass attempt to Nabers in the 2nd quarter.
It appeared the Rams shifted to more man-coverage in the game and McDuffie put his skill set on display; earning himself plenty of praise for the MNF performance.
