On Thursday, Bayern Munich announced the official contract extensions of both Allen Junior Lambe and Deniz Ofli via their official website:
FC Bayern has extended the contracts of two talents from its U19 squad. Full-back Deniz Ofli (09.03.2007) and midfielder Allen Junior Lambe (20.08.2008) will remain with the record champions until June 2028. Both are regular starters in [U-19 head coach] Peter Gaydarov ‘s team.
Bayern campus sporting director Markus Weinzierl had this to say about the extensions:
“With Deniz and Allen, we have secured the services of two players for a longer period, and we are pleased with their development. We believe in their potential and are delighted that they want to take their next steps towards professional football with us.”
The designation of regular starter may be a little generous for Lambe. The 17-year-old German and Cameroonian dual citizen has, after all, only started 4 of 11 domestic league and cup games, with two of those starts not even coming in the positionally flexible midfielder’s favored position. Certainly, he was more of a regular starter last season for the U-17s last season. Still, he has made steps forward this season and the contract extension is likely to reward the 1.89 meter tall player for that progress alongside having an eye on his potential.
One who clearly has been a regular starter this season is Deniz Ofli. As one of the few U-19 players of last season who remained at that level, his experience has seen him given the captain’s armband and assume a leading role amongst the team. The Turkish U-19 international, who also received the captain’s armband while on international duty against Poland’s U-19s, has now also taken over the starting LB position in the UEFA Youth League. All in all, his progress this season is being rewarded with this contract extension.
