4:24 GMT—Mandragora to Torino is progressing
Sounds like Fiorentina and Torino have hashed out most of the issues around the Mandrake’s move. Nicolò Schira says it’ll be a loan
with an option that could become an obligation pending performance objectives, likely a minimum number of appearances. Genoa’s also lurking in case this falls apart but it sounds like Roly’s heading back to the only acceptable side of Turin.
7:14 GMT—Fiorentina’s lining up 4 players
When Niccolò Ceccarini speaks, it’s smart to listen. He says that the Viola’s deadline day business revolves around 4 players: Lucas Torreira, Kristian Thorstvedt, Albert Guðmundsson, and Matteo Cancellieri. With Mandragora on the outs, Torreira and Thorstvedt are an either/or situation unless someone comes in with a big offer for Nicolò Fagioli as well. As much as I love Toothless Lucas, I’d rather keep Fagioli and Christ Inao Oulaï at regista, largely because they’re such different players that they offer Fabio Grosso different options. Torreira’s too similar to Oulaï, in my opinion. Thorstvedt is fine but overlaps enough with Brescianini that I’d rather see the club save some money and hang onto big Marco.
Cancellieri and Guðmundsson are also linked together. I’m not sure that we’ll see a player swap because those are always hideously complex but it’d probably be a couple of loans moving either way. Cancellieri’s not the most exciting name out there but he’s useful and would be a fine depth signing behind Franco Mastantuono. Guðmundsson, on the other hand, is pretty well out of the picture with Alieu Njie and Wilfried Gnonto in the fold. Offloading him is probably a major priority.
