Former Manchester United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown has underlined Tino Livramento’s focus going forward.
According to Brown, Livramento’s sole focus is on recovering from a knee injury and returning to action for Newcastle United and England, despite continuing noise about interest from Manchester City.
Brown told Football Insider that Man City “would love to sign the 23-year-old” as Pep Guardiola looks for a new right-back following Kyle Walker’s move to Burnley, but made clear that nothing
is developing while Livramento is sidelined.
“The top priority for Livramento is getting his fitness back,” Brown said. “He’s had this knee injury he picked up earlier in the season, and he’s focused on getting back fit and getting back to playing regularly.”
Brown added that any speculation about his future is secondary until he is playing again.
“Any talk about his future whether it’s staying at Newcastle or going to Man City will be put to the side for now because he isn’t playing games,” Brown said. “At his best, he’s a real asset to Newcastle and England, and he would be a real asset to Man City if he was to make that move because he’s that good.”
Livramento suffered the injury during Newcastle’s 2–1 defeat to Arsenal but is not facing long-term concerns.
Football Insider previously reported that Newcastle are preparing contract talks led by sporting director Ross Wilson, aiming to secure his long-term future amid expected renewed interest from Manchester City in 2026.
Brown also told Football Insider last month that Livramento is happy at Newcastle and open to extending his deal once he is back fit.
