Liverpool have announced today the signing of Anna Jøsendal from Hammarby IF. The 24-year-old Norway forward started her career at Avaldsnes Idrettslag, and was among the youthful squad for the Norwegian Women’s Cup Final way back in 2017.
Following some early-career injury struggles, she signed for Rosenborg in January 2022, winning the Norwegian Cup with the side before leaving for Hammarby IF in 2024. Playing in both Norway and Sweden, this move will be Jøsendal’s first outside of the Scandinavian
peninsula.
She will wear the 21 shirt for Liverpool, and has told Liverpoolfc.com of her excitement to join the WSL side:
“This has been my dream since I was a little kid – Liverpool has always been my favourite team and my whole family is supporting them as well, so it’s big for me.
“I spoke a lot with Gareth [Taylor] and Andy [O’Boyle] and that felt so good, and also to play in the Barclays Women’s Super League, the best league in Europe, is something I really look forward to.
“To play for this shirt is going to be so special, so I can’t wait to get started.”
The Norwegian international scored 12 times in all competitions with Hammarby IF over her two seasons with the club, and will look to build on her threat with Liverpool — who very much could use more goals.
The club did not release any information on the length of her contract.
