Atletico Madrid star Marc Pubill seems to think Julian Alvarez will leave the club in the summer transfer window amid continued speculation about a move to Barcelona.
Alvarez made waves last week when he spoke out publicly about wanting to leave Diego Simeone’s side while at World Cup 2026.
Pubill has been asked about Alvarez’s comments and thinks that if he’s not happy at the club, then he should move on.
“His statements were a bit strange. If he’s not happy at Atletico, we’ll see what happens, but
I understand he’ll leave,” he told TV3.
“You always want a player like that on the team. A player who is not happy stops being as good.”
Atletico have insisted they want to keep Alvarez but his future remains in doubt.
He was left out of the club’s promotional photos for the launch of their new home kit this week, suggesting his future may well lie away from the Spanish capital.
