I recently asked the Bright Side community what we could do better as we head into this season. Because if there’s one thing I learned a long, long time ago, it’s that I don’t know everything. In fact, one of the quotes I remember my grandfather always saying was, “To know that you don’t know is to know.” The point? If you understand that you don’t know everything, you remain inquisitive. You ask questions. You genuinely seek feedback. And that, in and of itself, is a form of knowledge.
So I asked
the community what you’d like to see us do better around here at Bright Side, and I received plenty of great feedback. Thank you for that. It motivates me and it motivates the writing team. It serves as another reminder of what makes this site unique. This truly is a community, and we’re all in this thing together.
One of the more entertaining suggestions was a ‘Bright Side Casino’, similar to what AZ Snake Pit has done over the years on our sister SB Nation site covering the Arizona Diamondbacks. The premise? I’m giving every reader $1,500 in play money. We’ll call them Bright Side Bucks, or BS$ for short. I’ll then put forth a series of interesting lines pertaining to the Phoenix Suns for the upcoming season. Your job is to head into the comments and spend your BS$ however you see fit across the different categories, stating whether or not you think the line you selected will go over or under. If it hits, you double your BS$.
There are a couple of caveats. The maximum bet on any individual line is BS$500. That means you have to wager on at least three different lines. How you spend your BS$1,500 is entirely up to you. For ease of entering them into the spreadsheet, entry lines should be in the form: Wins, BS$300, OVER, which means you are betting that Phoenix will win more than the specified number.

- Khaman Maluach Double-Doubles: 8.5
- Longest Suns Winning Streak: 6.5 games
- Dillon Brooks 3PM: 352.5
- Suns Western Conference Seed: 6.5
- Different Suns to start a game: 11.5
- Collin Gillespie assists per game: 4.2
- Miles Bridges 25-point games: 13.5
And now, head into the comments below and spend your Bright Side Bucks as you see fit. I’ll throw everybody’s wagers into a spreadsheet so we can check in on them every now and then throughout the season. At the very least, we’ll revisit everything at the end of the year and see how everyone did.
