Eastern Kentucky was the class of the ASUN on the women’s side in the regular season, but there are several worthy contenders behind them in the standings. All eyes turn to Jacksonville, Florida, for the conference tournament with the title game on March 9.
Below is a one-to-two sentence preview of each of the teams to qualify for the tourney. The ASUN Women’s Conference Tournament tips off on Tuesday, March 3.
1. Eastern Kentucky (15-3, 24-7 overall)
The Colonels boast the league’s best offense as they look for their first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2005 (back as a member of the OVC).
2. Jacksonville (13-5, 21-8 overall)
The Dolphins’ second-ranked offense is powered by Priscilla Williams, who is second in the ASUN in scoring and leads the league in rebounding and free throw percentage.
3. Central Arkansas (13-5, 20-10 overall)
Defense sparks this Sugar Bear team as it leads the conference in opponents’ points. They look to get back to the title game this year but break through with a championship for the first time since 2017.
4. Stetson (12-6, 19-10 overall)
The Hatters have a couple of the conference’s statistical leaders: Cameron Thomas (scoring) and Mary McMillan (assists).
5. FGCU (11-7, 15-14 overall)
The reigning champs will look to get back to the NCAA Tournament for a 13th time, but it will be difficult as the No. 5 seed.
6. North Alabama (11-7, 16-13 overall)
Alexsandra Alvarado leads the Lions as she is top 15 in the league in both scoring and assisting.
7. West Georgia (10-8, 17-12 overall)
If this team catches fire, it will be a problem for everyone in Jacksonville as the Wolves led the league in 3-point shooting. Sydne Tolbert and Asia Donald both rank in the top five in scoring.
8. Austin Peay 8-12, 16-12 overall)
Anovia Sheals serves as the team’s leading scorer and ranks in the top 10 in the league.
9. Lipscomb (7-11, 10-19 overall)
It’s the twin towers for the Bisons as Hope Counts and McKayla Miller are two of the best shot blockers in the ASUN. Molly Heard also leads in steals.
10. North Florida (4-14, 9-20)
The Ospreys won the tiebreaker over Queens to claim the final spot in the tournament.
