Free agency has begun in the NFL with the start of the legal tampering period. It isn’t necessarily the biggest surprise, but a pair of Jets free agents have agreed to deals with new teams.
Guard John Simpson is returning to Baltimore on a three year contract.
The Jets signed Simpson in free agency two years ago from
the Ravens. His first year went well. His second did not. There were rumblings that the Jets would look to keep him if the bottom fell out of the market for him, but he wasn’t a top priority.
The loss of Simpson opens a hole at left guard that the Jets will need to fill.
The Jets will also be searching for a new kicker. Nick Folk has agreed to a contract with the Atlanta Falcons.
Folk returned to the Jets in 2025 and was one of the league’s best kickers. It’s a shame the team wasn’t able to keep him around.
