FSU head coach Mike Norvell spoke with local media on Wednesday, offering a few updates but none more important than a positive one on Ethan Pritchard:
I thank God. He is progressing, and I got a chance
to go see him earlier this week, and it’s truly a miracle some of the steps that we’re seeing.
He’s still on this long journey ahead, but just to be able to have an opportunity to be in that room with him, to see his eyes, to see the foundational levels of the growth and where it’s going to be able to go, but just continue to appreciate all the thoughts and prayers that have been poured out to him because I think prayer works, and God’s working a miracle in that situation. I believe that with everything, and I just continue to lift him up for all those that have. It’s definitely been a really good last week, and there were some really challenging days in that time before that where there was a lot of uncertainty.
But I just continue to believe and be there for him and his family, and I’m just grateful for the progress.
Norvell also once again touched on just how monumental this game is for FSU:
It’s going to be emotional, and I want it to be every bit of the emotion that we have into this game. You know, when you know people, when you have those relationships, there are a lot of lifetime relationships, guys that have competed against each other in high school, guys that are friends throughout their life that are just at different places.
This is going to be something that’s remembered, but the emotional maturity is critical. It’s like, can I bring every bit of the emotion, but to be able to have the focus, the detail, the discipline to go play my best and not to get caught up in things that don’t matter.
It’s a blessing to be a part of this game. We have enough guys that have been in it, been a part of it, can kind of share a little bit of it. It’s going to be different.
You can get jacked up for every game, but this is one of those ones. For our guys to be able to prepare at that level and then continue to build upon that throughout the course of the week, it’s everything. I know a lot of guys are excited for what’s ahead.
I’ve got big expectations for the atmosphere, and I know what we’re pouring in and preparing for. I expect it all.
It’s a big game because the programs, a big game because of this state and the importance of recruiting the right guys here and from this state. I’m definitely looking forward to it.
Earl Little Jr. also spoke yesterday, emphasizing that as the son of a former Hurricane, he knows what’s at stake Saturday:
It means a whole lot that my father played for the U. Being that I’m from down there, and I kind of know everybody down there. It’s like the whole down south is against me, so it is a big game for me and this program as well. It means everything to play in this game, and I’m truly blessed to be a part of something like this.
I’m telling my guys down there every day, “It’s going to be a bloodbath.” That’s the type of game it’s going to be on Saturday. So whatever we’ve got to do to put ourselves in position to win throughout the week, that’s what we’re going to do….It’s all going to boil down to physicality and who wants it more. So that’s what we’ve been harping on, and that’s how we’ve been attacking practice.
Our very own Frank took out his tablet and chisel and broke down six of his favorite FSU upsets over Miami:
Jordan Silversmith penned a column of his own detailing why this year’s rivalry matchup means just a little bit more:
FSU put together a nice feature story on Tommy Castellanos:
For Tommy Castellanos, wearing garnet and gold wasn’t just a career move, it was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.
“I’ve had that interest since I was a kid,” Castellanos said. “I have family that went here, it’s been my dream school, so I’m just excited to be here and be a part of this team.”
Castellanos has stressed the importance of leadership, trust, and communication in his role as quarterback. “If you don’t have chemistry or a bond off the field or outside of the locker room, then you won’t really have one on the field. You need to be able to trust each other and be able to demand and respect each other,” he said.
After last week’s loss to Virginia, Castellanos redirected the conversation to resilience as a key trait for the Seminoles. “We know we’re going to continue to fight no matter what’s going on. A little adversity will just push us and make us work harder,” he said.
Looking ahead, Castellanos’ focus remains on leading the team. “I’m here now, I’m part of something special, I’m a Seminole. My main focus is just leading these guys and helping this community and fan base bring back the excitement everyone is used to,” he said.
