Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has one goal for any competition — and it might sound like he’s channeling the motto of former Raiders owner Al Davis: “Just win, baby!”
There are always going to
be ups-and-downs in a season or even a game, but Kompany is not concerning himself with those details at this point, especially after his team dispatched a lively RB Leipzig side from the DFB-Pokal by a 2-0 score. Kompany knows that winning is all that was required.
“In every competition, you have to have the feeling you can be there until the end and win the title. Everyone can have this dream. But from my side, I’m rather pragmatic. The performance today was good, which is why we won, and that increases the possibility of advancing further. That’s the most important thing for me. From tomorrow it’s about Werder Bremen,” Kompany said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Yes, the Bavarians will venture back into the Bundesliga for another “must win”-type game this weekend. While Werder Bremen is far from a challenger for the league title, Borussia Dortmund sits just six points behind Bayern Munich in the table. A slip-up is the last thing that Kompany would want to see.
