It would be interesting to see if the results of this poll are the same today as they were last week. Last week, I asked if you were confident in the direction the team is headed. 86% of you said you are:
I voted with the 86%, and that vote was pretty easy for me then. After Cam Ward’s performance on Thursday night against the San Francisco 49ers, I would have hesitated a little bit before clicking confident.
Make sure you hear what I am saying and what I am not saying. I am not saying that I have
given up on Ward. He showed a lot of promise last season in a disaster situation. There were plenty of things in his game that the new staff can build on.
With that being said, there is still a level of concern for me that some of the issues we saw on Thursday were issues that he had last season – like inaccuracy and not knowing when to give up on a busted play. I am confident that Brian Daboll can help him work through those things, but it would be nice to see some progress there before the preseason ends.
