The Buffalo Bills are no stranger to rostering the children of former players. For the last two seasons, future Hall of Fame running back Frank Gore’s son, Frank Gore Jr., has been on the club. Cornerback Daryl Porter Jr.‘s father, also named Daryl Porter, was a special teams player and defensive back for the Bills in the 1990s.
The left tackle when Porter Sr. played for Buffalo was John Fina. Buffalo’s top pick in the 1992 NFL Draft anchored the offensive line for Jim Kelly, Frank Reich, Todd Collins,
Alex Van Pelt, Rob Johnson, Doug Flutie, and even Billy Joe Hobert (though Hobert might not remember the plays he participated in given that he never studied the playbook much). Fina left the Bills in 2001, where settled in with the Arizona Cardinals. He stayed out west to raise his children.
Speaking of Fina’s children, one of them is set to battle for a roster spot on his father’s former team this summer. While his name—and his face, given that he is a near-clone of his dad—might be familiar, the younger Fina is looking to carve out his own NFL legacy where his father’s began.
In today’s edition of “91 players in 91 days,” we profile a young offensive lineman battling for a roster spot.

Name: Bruno Fina
Number: 75
Position: G
Height/Weight: 6’5” 306 lbs.
Age: 24 (25 on 3/15/2027)
Experience/Draft: R; signed with Buffalo following the 2026 NFL Draft
College: Duke
Acquired: UDFA signing
Financial situation (per Spotrac): Fina signed a three-year contract worth a total of $3.115 million, of which $50,000 is guaranteed. For the 2026 season, he carries a cap hit of $890,000 if he makes the 53-man roster. Buffalo will be on the hook for his $50,000 guarantee in the form of a dead cap charge if he’s released.
2025 Recap: Although Buffalo announced Fina as a guard, he played all 14 of his games for the Duke Blue Devils last season at left tackle. That was his primary position throughout college. For his efforts last season, he was named the recipient of Duke’s Cutcliffe Family Award on offense, which the program gives to the Most Improved Player on each side of the ball. At his Pro Day, Fina benched 225 lbs. a total of 10 times. His arms were measured at 32 3/8” long. Fina ran the 20-yard shuttle in 4.94 seconds, adding a broad jump of 8’9” and a vertical jump of 29”.
Positional outlook: Buffalo has ten players listed as either a center, guard, or center-guard on the roster. Aside from Fina, the others are Lloyd Cushenberry, Austin Corbett, O’Cyrus Torrence, Alec Anderson, Nick Broeker, Connor McGovern, Sedrick Van Pran-Granger, Da’Metrius Weatherspoon, and Ar’majReed-Adams.
2026 Offseason: In the “fun facts” category, Fina’s agent is Bill Conaty, who was a center for the Bills from 1997-2002. He was a teammate of John Fina’s. Talk about a full-circle moment! As for the football side of things, Fina has attended rookie minicamp and OTAs with the Bills so far in May.
2026 Season outlook: While it’s hard to say that a player has no chance at making the roster this early, it’s easy to see that Fina’s chances at making the team as a rookie are definitely long odds. He has the pedigree and the size to fit in, but it’s going to take a year in a professional strength and conditioning program in order for him to be where he needs to be in terms of his overall fitness to make an impact on Sundays.
Adding to the difficulty in cracking the roster is just how many bodies there are along the interior offensive line. Buffalo has ten players classified as either guards or center-guards, and that’s not counting the players they list as tackle-guards, either. Simply put, the numbers game here is going to be difficult to crack for anyone, let alone an undrafted free agent.
I’d put at least six interior-only players ahead of Fina in the early going, but that doesn’t mean that the Bills won’t find a way to keep him around. During the Brandon Beane era, Buffalo has a good track record of developing undrafted players on the offensive line into valuable pieces. One of those pieces, Alec Anderson very well could end up starting at left guard this season. I could easily see Fina being one of those players who sticks around on the practice squad this season before making a push for the roster in his second year.
