It’s nearly time for the Green Bay Packers to kick off against the one remaining NFC North rival team that they have not yet played in the 2026 season: the Detroit Lions.
Green Bay travels to Detroit today to face the Lions and complete their first spin through the division after going 1-1 in their two games against the Vikings and Bears. The Packers lost 39-22 in Minnesota on the opening Sunday of the season, then defeated Chicago 31-7 at Lambeau Field two weeks ago in the second game of their current
three-game winning streak.
That run will be put to the test today against a Lions team that is well-rested, having had their bye last week. Detroit alternated wins and losses over the first five weeks of the season, and there have been points galore with each of their five games seeing a combined total of 55 points or more. Detroit has not scored fewer than 26 points all season, but they also have given up at least 21 in every game and have allowed 30 or more three times.
The Packers’ defense has been much more effective than the Lions’ has been this year, as Green Bay has held opponents to less than 17 points in each of the team’s four wins. The two losses saw the defense allow 39 and 35 points, however, so they will need to find a way to slow down Detroit’s explosive unit.
Here’s how and when to tune in for this huge divisional matchup.
