The mood at Bayern Munich is slightly deflated after their controversial 2-2 draw at Hamburg SV over the weekend, but it still can’t take away just how good they’ve been over the course of the season. To date, they have only dropped points a total of four times all season across all competitions; the draw at Hamburg SV, the loss to FC Augsburg, the loss to Arsenal in the Champions League, and the 2-2 draw at Union Berlin in the hinrunde.
For Luis Díaz, who came on as a sub in the Hamburg draw and
scored almost immediately, his mood may have been slightly uplifted after the draw when he was officially awarded the Sportschau Goal of the Year award for 2025 with his goal in the 2-2 draw at Union Berlin (via @iMiaSanMia). This accolade has been won by Bayern players eight times in the past, the most recent of which was Harry Kane in 2024 for his goal against Augsburg when he essentially reenacted the Bundesliga logo with his controlling touch before heading it home.
Lucho’s award-winning goal:
Josip Stanišić’s pure shock and amazed reaction pretty much sums it up.
The Colombian winger was honored to have won the award, especially since it’s come in his maiden season at Bayern and in the Bundesliga; an adjustment that he’s shone he’s had absolutely no trouble with, having already tallied fifteen goals and twelve assists from a total of twenty-nine appearances across all competitions. “Thank you very much for the award. When I watch the goal, I can’t quite believe I scored it. I just thought to shoot as quickly as possible so we could score a goal. It was incredible. The award means a lot to me. I’ve not been in the Bundesliga for long, but I’ve been able to find my feet quickly, thanks to a great team, a great family and also a very good coach. It’s then really easy to feel at home. Thank you for the award. I hope there’s more goals to come. That’s the most important thing for me as a forward, being able to help the team like that with hard work,” Lucho said.
Vincent Kompany’s side are still well poised to go for another historic treble and there’s no evidence to suggest they won’t be able to do it. Bayern are notorious for getting big results
