DAZN (UK), 3:00 am ET, Lewis Crocker vs Liam Paro. From Brisbane. Also airing on the usual Australia outlets. DAZN doesn’t have U.S. rights, or at least doesn’t just yet, that could change, but does appear to have UK rights. PBC have a hand in the card so it could wind up on Prime Video or on YouTube here. Either way, a solid matchup, Crocker going on the road to defend the IBF welterweight title against a former 140 lb titleholder who will have home advantage. The undercard is pretty standard local/domestic
fare for Australia. Even if we get a U.S. outlet not sure we’ll have live updates, but it’s possible.
Saturday, June 27
DAZN PPV or Ultimate, Time TBA, Floyd Mayweather “vs” Mike Zambidis. Exhibition from Athens. It should be noted that as of right now, even though DAZN gleefully announced having this “fight” on their schedule, this is not actually listed on DAZN’s page, and if you try to, like, Google it and go to the DAZN event page, that event page doesn’t exist anymore. Could have something to do with Mayweather’s many recent headlines, like passing a bad check in Nevada and being sued for SHOCKINGLY! not going through with the Mike Tyson exhibition that definitely ever really existed and was going to actually happen, and the ongoing questions of him actually fighting Manny Pacquiao in September despite the fact that the date is now unconfirmed, The Sphere has moved on to book the Eagles for a residency on the original date, and so on and so forth.
Even if this does happen on Saturday and DAZN has the show, I’m not bothering. Might throw up a Feed post for anyone who does watch, but I’ve seen Mayweather’s exhibition song-and-dance enough times now. It’s not interesting, he does the same bits and shtick every time out, assures everyone that it’s “entertaining,” and we haven’t seen any actual wider interest in them in years now. I am absolutely telling you that Eddie Hall fighting Tommy Fury is worth our time from a “business” standpoint and this kind of isn’t, yes.
Xander Zayas vs Jaron “Boots” Ennis (DAZN PPV or Ultimate, 8:00 pm ET)
Bad Left Hook will have live results and updates
From Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Zayas is defending his WBA and WBO super welterweight titles against Ennis. It’s the biggest fight in the careers of both men, by some distance. Really, as much hype as there’s been behind Ennis, it’s really Zayas — without ever having some huge, marquee fight himself — who has probably really proven more in terms of his results.
We’ll have much more on the fight this week and live results and updates on Saturday!
On the undercard: Decent matchups! We’ll see Emiliano Vargas face Bryce Mills in a 140 lb bout that many feel could be a problem for Vargas, who is seen as having perhaps stagnated just a bit recently, but he’ll come in the favorite. … Jahi Tucker will take on Euri Cedeno in a solid middleweight bout. … Ben Whittaker will make his U.S. debut against veteran Richard Rivera.
