The Tigers finished third with a 17-under team score at the Medinah Golf Course to mark their third top-three tournament finish in a row.
Mizzou played three rounds Oct. 12-13 against a strong field of 14 other teams and 79 other players.
After ending the first round in third place, the Tigers briefly moved to the top of the leaderboard in the second round before finding difficulty on the back nine holes in the third.
“We started off really well today and then we had our bad holes towards the end of the round
and couldn’t really quite finish the way we wanted to,” Mizzou head coach Caroline Westrup Gaeta said.
A large part of the team’s success was how they played the par 3s, Westrup Gaeta said, “but our par 5 scoring was a little bit behind, so that kind of cost the win, I would say.”
Indiana took first place with a 24-under team score, followed close behind by Ole Miss (-23).
Individual performances
Senior Addie Dobson led the team once again, tying for eighth place and shooting a consistent 69-70-70 for a 7-under total.
It was the par 4s where Dobson saved most of her strokes – 75% of her birdies were on a par 4, including two each on the short first and 13th holes.
Senior Melanie Walker followed with a 4-under total to tie for 14th place, shooting 69-70-73.
Walker shot two eagles, one in the first round on the par-4 13th hole and one in the second round on the par-5 16th hole.
Junior Alexandra Berglund was close behind, shooting 69-70-74 for a 3-under total to tie for 17th place. Her first-round 69 was fueled by six birdies.
Sophomore Addie Surber shot 73-71-70 for a 2-under total to tie for 21st place.
In her third round, Surber was on track for a record-low score after shooting six birdies across her first 13 holes. Two bogeys and one double bogey later, she still posted her lowest round of the tournament.
Senior Fleur van Beek rounded out the team in 37th place with a 2-over total. She shot 72-72-74.
The Tigers will compete next at the Jim West Challenge in San Marcos, Texas, starting Oct. 18.
