The
Philadelphia Eagles signed 13 players to their practice squad on Monday afternoon, according to an official team announcement. Here’s a last name alphabetical order overview with analysis to follow.

ANALYSIS
- In case you missed it: Myles Hinton, Cameron Williams, Kapena Gushiken, and Cameron Latu won’t be able to join the Eagles’ practice squad because they were claimed by teams on waivers. I’m surprised Hinton got claimed because he had a pretty bad summer but the Eagles did just play the Bengals in the preseason, so, Cincy must have seen something they liked. I had Williams making my final 53-man roster projection; I thought the Eagles would be reluctant to give up on his potential. Williams might’ve been able to stick if Markel Bell wasn’t injured, which probably prompted the Eagles to keep Fred Johnson around despite the fact he didn’t look good this summer. Gush didn’t play well enough to make the roster but he was the Eagles’ most expensive undrafted rookie free agent signing, which signaled that he previously had interest from other teams after the 2026 NFL Draft. Latu probably just isn’t much of an offensive contributor but he is a really good special teams guy, so, losing him hurts.
- Notable Eagles practice squad omissions thus far (subject to change): Deontae Lawson and Zion Wilson. They both showed some developmental promise in the preseason games. Would be good to get them on the PS.
- I didn’t think the Eagles would struggle to get Uar Bernard back on the practice squad, which is why I left him off my final 53-man roster projection. He’s clearly just not ready to play this year. Good to see he’s back, though. The Eagles’ official team site indicates that the team has not yet designated their international exemption slot but I would guess they’re going to use it on Bernard. By doing so, Bernard would be ineligible to play in a game this season … but he also wouldn’t count against their 16-player practice squad limit.
- Chance Campbell likely would’ve been the fifth off-ball linebacker on the roster if the Eagles kept more than four. Good veteran option to have around for even more depth and special teams help.
- Britain Covey is a contender to be temporarily elevated to the roster if the Eagles want to use him as their punt returner. It’s currently unclear how else they plan to go about returning punts. Covey also provides depth at slot receiver.
- Gabe Hall had a good summer relative to expectation. He’s roster-worthy but the Eagles already have five defensive tackles on the team ahead of him. He could get a call up if they deal with interior defensive line injuries.
- Keyshawn James-Newby missed a lot of practice time this offseason but he flashed just enough to warrant a practice squad spot. Good to be keeping the 2026 seventh-round pick in the building.
- Jake Majors might’ve made the roster if the Eagles didn’t already have Drew Kendall, Willie Lampkin, and Micah Morris stepping up to make the team. I wouldn’t be surprised if another team poached him from the Eagles’ practice squad this season if they run into offensive line injuries.
- John Ojukwu missed some time in camp due to injury but I feel like I generally liked what I saw out of him more than Fred Johnson this summer. Totally fine with keeping him around for even more tackle depth.
- Dameon Pierce popped early in camp before suffering an injury that caused him to miss most of the summer. He then showed some good signs upon returning. Pierce is likely the fourth running back in the team’s pecking order behind Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby, and Will Shipley. He’s an RB injury away from getting called up.
- Maximus Pullley has some developmental potential at a position where the Eagles are thin.
- Mason Reiger is the player the Eagles recently brought in for a tryout. Some thought he could be an earlyish Day 3 pick but he likely went undrafted due to medical history concerns. Seems like a good player to take a no-risk chance on with a practice squad spot.
- Carson Steele is back on the practice squad following some concern that another team might poach him after having a productive preseason with the Eagles.
- Joshua Weru did not get poached! Great news. Although wildly inexperienced, Weru flashed some real potential in both training camp practices and preseason games. He seems to be closer to contributing than Bernard is, relatively speaking. Interested to see what he looks like next offseason.
- Cole Wisniewski joins Bernard and KJN as 2026 Eagles seventh-round picks to return to the team on the practice squad. He might’ve had a chance to make the roster if he hadn’t missed most of the Eagles’ offseason practices due to injury issues.
