Bayern Munich struck gold with Vincent Kompany in the summer of 2024. What started out as an outsider candidate became one of the most formidable coaches in Europe, and his team hasn’t lost a match in four
months. Ahead of the Bavarians’ clash with Arsenal, Jens Lehmann, who played with the latter team, praised the Germans’ high-risk, high-reward signing.
“When Bayern tried to implement all the other alternatives in 2024, I thought: Good luck,” Lehmann said (Tz as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “Then, for whatever reason, they came up with Vincent Kompany, and I thought: Now they’ve got a good one, perhaps the best choice out of necessity, as we’ve seen since he arrived. He understands the game while it’s in progress better than the other coaches. And he brings a lot of courage.”
The Gunners welcome the Rekordmeister in a few days, and that match is one to watch out for. With Luis Diaz set to miss out but an appeal will happen so there is a chance that the Colombian does end up being available for selection.
