Former Bayern Munich academy product Maurice Krattenmacher has come back to haunt his former club, scoring in the 61st minute to pull SV 07 Elversberg level at 1-1.
Krattenmacher received the ball with Josip Stanišić closing him down, but the Elversberg attacker showed excellent composure and quick feet. He moved to his left before cutting sharply back onto his right foot, creating just enough separation from Stanišić to get his shot away and beat Jonas Urbig.
It is another impressive moment for Krattenmacher, who has already been one of the standout players in Elversberg’s remarkable start to their first Bundesliga season. He scored twice in Elversberg’s dramatic 4-3 comeback win over Borussia Mönchengladbach last weekend, including the stoppage-time winner.
Now, the 21-year-old has added a goal against the club where he developed through the academy, giving Elversberg renewed belief against a Bayern Munich side that rotated heavily following Thursday’s Champions League victory over Bodø/Glimt.
Bayern Munich had controlled much of the match before the equalizer, but Krattenmacher’s individual quality has completely changed the complexion of the game. With the score now level, Bayern Munich will need to respond quickly if they want to avoid another frustrating Bundesliga result.
